SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – University at Albany alumna Grace Claxton has been named Puerto Rico Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year by the Olympic Committee of Puerto Rico.
Claxton, who was a two-time All-American and Olympic semifinalist during her stint at UAlbany, continued her international career for Puerto Rico in 2017, qualifying for the IAAF World Championships in London in the 400m hurdles. Claxton placed 16th overall in London in 56.40, just off her 14th-place finish in the Olympics the previous year. Claxton was named alongside Male Track & Field Athlete of the Year Andrés Arroyo and the best Puerto Rican athletes of 2017 as recognized by their individual federations at the Olympic Awards Ceremony.
As Claxton continues her training for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, she has joined the UAlbany track & field team as a volunteer assistant coach.
