Track & Field Signs Three
ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany track & field program has signed three incoming student-athletes during the early signing period. Of the three new additions, each of whom will join the women’s team, one is a sprinter, one is a sprinter/jumper, and one is a thrower.
Liza Lopez will set foot on campus first among the three when she arrives in January, 2018. She is a transfer from Universidad Metropolitana in Puerto Rico and previously attended Palmetto Baptiste Academy. Lopez will arrive with personal bests of 24.95 in the 200m and 55.76 in the 400m.
Brittny Membreno will join the Great Danes having previously attended Massapequa High School. Membreno has a personal best of 129-02.00 in the discus, and has placed at New York State Outdoor Championships in the event in each of the last two years.
Ijeyikowoicho “Ijeyi” Onah is the hybrid jumper/sprinter among the group of three. Attending Ithaca High School, Onah has a personal best of 18-07.25 in the long jump and 59.37 in the 400m. She placed fifth at New York State Outdoor Championships in the Division I long jump and fourth in the Federation long jump last season.
UAlbany’s indoor season will begin in earnest on January 13, 2018 with the Great Dane Classic at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
