LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the second consecutive year, the University at Albany track & field program will be represented at NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Freshman Adrian Mitchell headlined the first day of NCAA East Preliminary Championships for UAlbany, placing 11th in the men's javelin to advance to Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Mitchell recorded a throw of 212-10.00 to earn the top-12 finish required to advance to Outdoor Championships.
Mitchell was the first of four Great Danes to compete on the first day of East Prelims. Next, junior Halie Snyder opened the track events, placing 35th in the women's 400m hurdles in 1:00.67.
Later, Stephanie Osuji matched her all-time best mark, windy or otherwise, in the women's 100m with a wind-aided 11.50 to qualify for the next round in 18th place.
Finally, Robert Harris III concluded UAlbany's events for the day in the men's 100m, where he finished 47th running 10.74.
Tomorrow, Anika Hibbard will compete in the women's high jump at 4:30 p.m., and Osuji will compete in the quarterfinal round of the women's 100m at 6:00 p.m.
