UAlbany Athletics Adeyeye, Leindecker, Traut Named America East Woman & Man Of The Year Nominees UAlbany Sports Information 05-17-2017 Related Links America East Release Sign Up For Free Email Updates BOSTON – University at Albany seniors Mary Adeyeye of women's track & field, Laini Leindecker of women's volleyball, and Keith Traut of men's soccer have been named as nominees for the America East Woman and Man of the Year awards, the conference offices announced Tuesday. The three Great Danes were named as part of a group of 22 student-athletes (10 men, 12 women) in the America East to earn a nomination. Adeyeye, a senior from Mohegan Lake, N.Y., helped guide the women's track & field program to eight conference championships since her freshman year. She holds the school record in the indoor pentathlon, and ranks third in program history in the outdoor heptathlon. Academically, Adeyeye has accumulated a 3.85 GPA studying Chemistry with a minor in Physics, and is a four-time America East All-Academic selection. Leindecker, a senior from New Philadelphia, Ohio, . Leindecker has accumulated a 3.71 GPA studying Human Biology with a minor in Psychology, and was named 2015 America East Co-Player of the Year, 2015 America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and is a three-time America East All-Conference First Team and two-time America East All-Academic selection. Traut, a senior from College Point, N.Y., anchored a defensive line that helped lead the men's soccer program to its first-ever America East regular season title in 2015, and its first-ever America East tournament title and NCAA tournament victory in 2016. He departs UAlbany ranking in the top 10 in program history in games played and career starts. Traut has accumulated a 3.74 GPA studying Business, and has twice been named America East All-Conference First Team and All-Academic. To be nominated, student-athletes must have completed intercollegiate eligibility in their primary sport by the end of the 2017 spring season or received their undergraduate degree prior to the conclusion of the summer 2017 term and have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.500 (4.000 scale). The nominees will be narrowed down to three finalists per gender, who will be announced via a release on the conference AmericaEast.com on Monday, May 22. The 2017 America East Man and Woman of the Year will be announced and honored at the conference's annual awards dinner on Friday, June 2. The America East Woman of the Year will then be forwarded to the NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee. The selection committee will select the top 10 winners in each NCAA division (I, II and III). From among those 30 honorees, the selection committee will determine the top three in each division. Finally, the members of the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics (CWA) will vote from among the top nine to determine the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year. America East began honoring a Woman of the Year in 2006 and introduced the Man of the Year award in 2015.
