Alex James Named CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week

ALBANY, N.Y. — After rushing for 229 yards and a touchdown against Bryant, University at Albany redshirt junior Alex James has been named CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, Sept. 9.

James, a transfer from Coastal Carolina, ran for an 80-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the Great Danes' home opener and also broke off an 83-yard run, the fourth-longest in program history, in the fourth quarter. He averaged 19.1 yards on 12 carries, helping UAlbany to a 45-3 victory over the Bulldogs.

UAlbany rushed for 362 yards against Bryant. James' partner in the backfield, junior Karl Mofor, rushed 18 times for a career-high 123 yards.

James shared the weekly award with Rhode Island receiver Aaron Parker, who caught 12 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown against Delaware. 

UAlbany next plays Saturday, Sept. 14, at Monmouth. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
