ALBANY, N.Y. — The University at Albany football program will host a "Be The Match" bone-marrow donor registry drive on Wednesday, April 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Academic Podium.
Anyone between the ages of 18 and 44 and generally in good health can join the registry by having a cheek swabbed.
If a match is found, donating marrow is similar to donating blood. All costs for the donor are paid by Be The Match.
Be The Match is the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on saving lives through marrow and umbilical cord transplantation. In 2017 alone, the organization added 493,000 new registry members, bringing the total to more than 19 million.
