ALBANY, N.Y. – First-team defensive lineman Malachi Hoskins led a list of five University at Albany football student-athletes who were named to All-Colonial Athletic Association teams, the league announced Tuesday.

Fullback/tight end Anthony Manzo-Lewis, punt-returner Donovan McDonald and linebacker Nate Hatalsky all were named to the second-team, and linebacker Eli Mencer made the third-team as a special-teams member.

Hoskins, a member of the All-CAA Preseason team, played one of his best games of the season in the Great Danes’ 15-0 victory over No. 16/14 New Hampshire this past Saturday. He recorded two sacks for a defense that held the Wildcats to just 122 yards of offense. For the season, Hoskins lead UAlbany with 5.0 sacks and 9.0 tackles for loss.

Manzo-Lewis, a senior, caught 20 passes for 188 yards while playing both tight end and fullback.

McDonald, a sophomore transfer from Nebraska, was second in the CAA with an average of 10.1 yards per punt return, including a long of 34 yards. The 6-foot, 175-pound receiver, who came to the program as a walk-on but earned a scholarship during the preseason, also caught 29 passes for 339 yards and three touchdowns.

Hatalsky, a senior linebacker from nearby Mechanicville, was the CAA’s runaway leader in total tackles with 122 – 19 more than the next player. He also set a new school Division I record for tackles in a game with 21 on Oct. 7 against Rhode Island; he’s also second on the list with 19 against Delaware on Nov. 5.

Mencer, a redshirt sophomore linebacker, provided several big plays this season. He led the CAA with five forced fumbles and returned two for touchdowns, including an 80-yarder that finished off UAlbany’s 19-10 win over then-No. 7/8 Villanova on Sept. 23.
