NEW ORLEANS – Following a 10th place performance in Boston in a field loaded with regional contenders, the University at Albany men’s cross country team held on to their 13th ranking in the Northeast regional poll, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Monday.
The top three teams in the men’s poll, Syracuse, Columbia, and Iona, remained unchanged from last week. Cornell and Brown rounded out the top five, with each team moving up one spot. UMass Lowell saw the largest improvement since last week, moving up seven spots from 15 to eighth. The Riverhawks placed sixth in UAlbany’s race on Friday. Stony Brook, the only other America East school earning a regional ranking, improved one spot to sixth.
The Great Danes placed 10th overall in a field that included 10 schools that were ranked in the Week 2 poll, including Northeast #1 Syracuse, Great Lakes #2 Indiana (now #3), and Midwest #3 Illinois (now #2).
The Great Danes will return to action on Friday, September 29 at Lehigh’s Paul Short Invitational.
