NEW ORLEANS—After a successful weekend at the America East Conference Championship, the University at Albany men’s cross country program earned the 14th spot in the Northeast Regional Rankings, and made it onto the poll for the first time this season.
Most of the ranked teams in the Northeast Region have held onto their spots throughout the season with the top five remaining the same as the previous week. Syracuse is ranked number one, followed by Iona in second, and Providence in third. Columbia is fourth overall and Dartmouth is fifth. UAlbany made the list right after Stony Brook (12) and Maine (13) from their strong conference performance.
This past weekend, the Great Danes placed 3rd overall at Jerusalem Mill Park in UMBC, where they defeated six other America East schools, including New Hampshire, Vermont, UMass Lowell, Binghamton, UMBC, and Hartford. Ryan Udvadia was the top-finisher for UAlbany, placing second overall in the 8K with a time of 24:44.11.
Next up for UAlbany is the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on Friday, November 11. The Great Danes will return to Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. for competition.
