NEW ORLEANS – Following the final weekend of competition before the America East Indoor Championship, the University at Albany track & field team continued to hold spots in the Northeast regional poll released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Both the women (seventh) and the men (10th) fell three spots from their positions last week.

The women’s top-three remained unchanged from last week, with Dartmouth atop the poll followed by Harvard and Syracuse. Connecticut in fourth and Brown in fifth each improved one spot. Columbia saw the biggest improvement within the top-15, jumping two spots to sixth. Among the America East, New Hampshire held steady at 11th, and UMass Lowell improved one spot to 12th.

The men’s poll saw turnover in each of the top five spots, with Syracuse jumping one place to take over from Connecticut at the top of the poll. Connecticut fell one spot to second, followed by Rhode Island, Army, and Brown rounding out the top five. LIU Brooklyn improved six spots to break into the men’s poll at 13th. UMass Lowell improved two places to eighth as the only other America East representative in the poll.

The women now hold five Northeast top-eight rankings, one of which is new from this past weekend. Stephanie Osuji ranks second in the 200m with a time of 23.53 after breaking her own school record in the event for the third straight week.

The men hold six top-eight rankings in the region, and had one new performance from the weekend. Devon Willis ranks second in the triple jump in 51-03.50.

The Great Danes will undergo a two-week training cycle before returning to Boston University’s Track and Tennis Center for the America East Indoor Championships starting on Friday, February 23.
