BOSTON –Sidney Gibbons has been named America East Men’s Track Performer of the Week, the conference offices announced Tuesday. He was named alongside women’s track performer Elinor Purrier from New Hampshire, women’s field performer Keishorea Armstrong from Binghamton, and men’s field performer Michael Shanahan from New Hampshire.
Gibbons, a junior hurdler from St. Albans, N.Y., placed second overall in the men’s 60m hurdles at the Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge on Friday night. Two weeks ago at the Great Dane Classic, Gibbons ran a personal-best 7.96 in the hurdles, tying the school record set in 2009 by Jean Juste. Last weekend, broke that record with a 7.86 in the trials, and improved once more with a 7.82 in the finals.
