Benzaid started the season late due to injury, but opened with two events at Connecticut’s Northeast Challenge. He placed third in both the 800m in 1:54.36 and the 1,500m in 4:04.19. The following week, he won the 800m at the UAlbany Spring Classic in 1:54.52. He led off the men’s distance medley relay at the Penn Relays, splitting 3:03.8 for 1,200m. The next day, he split 1:51.22 in the 4x800m relay. At America East Outdoor Championships, Benzaid placed fifth in the 800m in 1:53.10, and followed up that performance with a 1:53.2 split in the 4x800m relay. At IC4A Championships, Benzaid ran his season-best in the 800m, finishing 15th in 1:51.39.
Benzaid opened his season at Cornell’s Upstate Challenge. He placed 11th in the mile in 4:24.16, and 6th in the 1,000m in 2:33.15. He placed fifth in the 800m at the Armory Track Invitational, crossing the line in 1:52.34. He also set a personal-best in the 1,000m, finishing 19th in 2:29.37. At the Valentine Invitational, Benzaid placed 21st in the 800m in 1:52.95. He placed second in the 800m at the America East Indoor Championships in 1:51.92, and split 1:50.0 in the 4x800m relay later in the meet. At Boston University’s Last Chance Meet, Benzaid set a personal-best in the 800m, finishing fourth in 1:50.60. At IC4A Championships, Benzaid qualified sixth in the 800m in 1:51.58, and finished fifth overall in the finals in 1:51.32.
Benzaid’s cross country season started at Iona’s Meet of Champions, where he placed 94th in 27:47.2. He ran his personal-best for 8K at Lehigh’s Paul Short Invitational, finishing 236th in 26:01.2. He finished 19th at UAlbany’s XC Invitational in 26:18.7, which was also his final meet.
Benzaid competed in only two meets during the outdoor season due to injury. He placed fourth in the 800m at the Spring Break Classic, and was a member of the sixth place 4x800m relay and the 10th place distance medley relay at the Texas Relays before being shut down.
Benzaid opened his indoor campaign with a seventh place finish in the mile at the Great Dane Classic. His best time in the event came at the Armory Collegiate Invitational, where he finished 29th in 4:16.83. At the same meet, Benzaid placed fourth in the 800m, running his season-best time of 1:53.06. He helped the 4x800m relay place fourth at the Millrose Games. Benzaid also ran on the first place finishing 4x800m relay, and second place finishing distance medley relay at the America East Indoor Championships. Benzaid ended his season finishing third at IC4A Championships as a member of the 4x800m relay.
Benzaid competed in six meets during the cross country season, improving his time in each meet except one. His best 8K came at the America East Championships where he placed 53rd with a time of 26:33.5. He ran his one and only 10K of the season at the Northeast Regional Championships, placing 149th in 33:00.3. He ended the season ranked eighth on the team in the 8K and fourth in the team in the 10K.
Benzaid claimed his first victory of the season at the UCF Invitational, running 1:53.93 in the 800m. He ran a personal-best in the 1,500m at Princeton’s Larry Ellis Invitational, finishing ninth in 3:59.13. After running the 4x800m at Penn Relays, Benzaid ran the relay again at the America East Outdoor Championships, helping the squad to victory. He also placed third overall in the open 800m, running a personal-best time of 1:52.46. His season ended in the preliminary round of the 4x800m relay at IC4A Championships, where the team finished 14th.
Benzaid competed in three meets during his first season at UAlbany. At the Armory Collegiate Invitational, he placed fourth as a member of the 4x800m relay team. At the America East Indoor Championships, he placed fifth in the 1,000m, running his personal-best time of 2:30.79, and also placed fourth as a member of the distance medley relay. His final meet of the season was IC4A Indoor Championships, placing seventh overall.
