CHRIS CANNATA REACHES 700 WINS IN VICTORY OVER HAMPTON
ALBANY, N.Y. - UAlbany softball head coach Chris Cannata has reached her 700th victory with the Great Danes. The 700th win came at the Blue and White Classic in Hampton, Virginia where the Great Danes defeated Hampton 7-1 on Friday, March 9th.
Coach Chris Cannata is in her 24th season at UAlbany and has lead the team to win six America East Conference titles.
“I honestly had no idea about the number," said head coach Chris Cannata. "Our kids were on it and we had a nice little celebration last night that was really sweet. I really have to just say thank you to all of my staff, most of which have been by my side for a majority of those wins. I am very grateful to Jack Coons, Joe Reardon, Kate Gentile, Mary Kate Hedderman and all of the other assistants and staff that I have been fortunate enough to work with over the years. I also need to thank all of the players that have been a part of the UAlbany softball family for more than the last two decades. Our tradition has been laid down by the many talented athletes that have played here before. Its wonderful to see our alumni come back and visit and to talk about the many memories that we all shared together. We hope to continue that winning tradition with the players this season and with all of the future Great Danes that will come and play here.”
UAlbany will play its last game of the Blue and White classic on Sunday, March 11th against Omaha.
