UAlbany Heads to the Winthrop Invitational
ALBANY, N.Y.-- The Great Danes are headed down to Rock Hill, South Carolina for the Winthrop Invitational where they will play five games from March 2nd to March 4th.

Last weekend at the EMU Madeira Beach Spring Invitational, UAlbany finished with a 2-3 record, defeating Eastern Michigan and Rhode Island. McKenzie Bump led the Great Danes last weekend with 4 RBIs, two doubles, and four hits. Bump batted .333 and started in all five games. Donna Conrad and Aliyah Wade also had four hits. The final game of the tournament against Eastern Michigan ended in the sixth inning after a two-run RBI made by McKenzie Bump with a score of 9-1.
SCOUTING FOR THE WINTHROP INVITATIONAL
Morehead State (8-4) - Morehead State is currently batting .667. Last season, they finished 26-22 overall and 6-12 in the conference, batting .542. Morehead State had a notable win at the Mercer Invitational this season, defeating Buffalo 9-3. Morehead State’s most recent appearance was at the Bobbie Bailey Memorial Tournament, winning against Florida A&M and Rutgers, while falling to Florida A&M in the second game, along with Kennesaw State.
Key Player: Junior Allison Rager batted .444 and started in all 12 games of the season for Morehead State. She currently leads in hits (16) and RBIs (8).
Winthrop (4-5) - Last season, Winthrop had a record of 27-31 overall and 9-12 in the conference. The Eagles are currently batting .444 with a record of 4-5. Winthrop had two shut-outs in the Red and Black Showcase, defeating Samford 6-0 and Evansville 1-0. The Eagles were defeated in all four games at the Spartan Classic on February 24th and 25th.
Key Player: Morgan Lowers batted .321 and started in all 9 games of the season with two RBIs and nine hits.
Sacred Heart (3-2) - Sacred Heart scored 22 runs in the Chattanooga Challenge over the course of 5 games, winning three and losing two. Sacred Heart had a three-win streak at the Chattanooga Challenge, defeating Indiana State 4-0, Chattanooga 8-0, and Tennessee Tech 10-4.
Key Player: Senior Fallon Bevino has started in all 5 games for Sacred Heart and batted .286 with five RBIs, three runs, and four hits.
Youngstown State (4-5) - Youngstown had an overall record of 31-28 last season and a conference record of 17-7. Youngstown State defeated Lafayette 11-3 in the Hampton Tournament on February 23rd. They fell to Buffalo, Hampton, Gardner-Webb, and Western Kentucky.
Key Player: Hannah Lucas batted .424 in the first nine games of the season for Youngstown. She has five RBIs, one triple, one double, and 14 hits. She scored 11 runs for the team so far this season.
Eastern Kentucky (7-5) - Eastern Kentucky won three out of four games at the Total Control Sports Invitational that took place from February 9th and 10th. Last year, they had an overall record of 27-31 with a conference record of 11-9. Eastern Kentucky’s most recent appearance was at the Black and Orange Challenge where it defeated the University of Akron and Drexel University, while falling to Mercer University.
Key Player: Paige Murphy batted .389 in the first 12 games of the season with 11 RBIs, two home runs, one triple, five doubles, 14 hits, and eight runs.
