ALBANY, N.Y. - The UAlbany Women's Soccer team will play its home opener this Friday, August 31st at 4 p.m. against Iona. The game will take place in Casey Stadium.
"We couldn't be more excited for our home opener this week," said head coach Nick Bochette. "Playing at home usually provides some extra energy, which we hope is channeled in the right way. Our first four games, which have all been on the road, have served us well and taught us a lot about ourselves. Among other things, we've learned how much we have to be willing to give each and every game, and how fruitful those sacrifices can prove when made while performing at a high level.
As we progress to the next part of our schedule - four home games surrounding a trip to local rival, Siena - we will look to carry on with the same ambition we have had all along. There are still many meaningful games ahead of us, and we will prepare for each with the same drive to grow and learn every day and to compete at our highest level every opportunity we get."
Iona is currently 1-3 in the season, losing the last three games in a row after defeating Sacred Heart in the season opener.
