UAlbany Sports Information   06-28-2017

ALBANY, N.Y.Caroline Kopp and Savanah Courtney will serve as team captains for UAlbany women's soccer for the 2017 season.

Both will be serving as captains for the first time this season under new head coach Nick Bochette. The two juniors have started on the UAlbany back line each of the past two years.

“Both Caroline and Savanah represent all of the ideals our program is built on: High standards, positive problem solving, integrity, competitiveness, and academic excellence are just a few of the paradigms embodied by both of these young women,” said Bochette. “Caroline and Savanah are already looked up to by their teammates as leaders, and I look forward to seeing both of these ladies continue to develop as leaders, teammates, and student-athletes in the coming months.”

Each helped the UAlbany defense allowed just one combined goal in the America East Tournament en route to the program's second consecutive conference title.  As a team, UAlbany had a 1.25 goals allowed average and six shutouts.

The Great Danes open the season in Virginia against Old Dominion on August 20th.
