UAlbany Women’s Basketball to be Officially Recognized in the New York State Assembly and Senate on Tuesday, May 3rd
ALBANY, N.Y. – After the team’s most successful season in program history, including a victory in the NCAA Tournament, the UAlbany women’s basketball team will be recognized by the New York State Assembly and Senate houses on Tuesday, May 3rd.
It will be the second straight year the team will be recognized in the two houses of the New York State Legislature.
The team will be recognized first in the Assembly Chamber during the 1 p.m. session and later by the Senate Chamber in the 3 p.m. session.
“We could not be more proud of this team’s amazing achievements,” said University at Albany President Robert J. Jones. “Their perseverance and excellence are truly an inspiration—and our women’s basketball program is an invaluable asset to UAlbany.”
UAlbany earned its fifth consecutive America East Tournament title in the 2015-16 season, picking up a program record 12-seed into the NCAA Tournament. There, the team won its first-ever game in the NCAA Tournament in the Division I era with a 61-59 victory over 5-seed Florida. The team finished with a program record 28 victories on the year.
