Great Danes Seek Third Straight Win at Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Great Danes will look to push their win streak to three game when they visit Vermont on Saturday, January 5 in America East action. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. at Patrick Gymnasium and will broadcast on ESPN3.

UAlbany and Vermont will meet for the 41st time in the sport of women’s basketball. The Great Danes currently lead the all-time series, 22-18.

The Great Danes enter Wednesday with a 4-10 overall record and are coming off a 1-0 week. The squad opened 2019 with a 61-56 victory against Columbia in their 2018-19 America East opener. Heather Forster led all player with a career-high 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Alexi Schecter (11), Chyanna Canada (1) and Patricia Conroy (10) joined Forster in double-figure scoring.

Kyara Frames is totaling 12.6 points per game to lead the Great Danes. Forster is tied for second in the conference with a career-best 7.3 rebounds per game, while chipping in with 6.9 points per contest. Chyanna Canada and Amanda Kantzy add to the offense with 8.2 and 7.2 points per game, respectively. As a team, the Great Danes are scoring 51.7 points per contest, while shooting 35.8 percent from the floor and 28.5 percentage from behind the arc.

Vermont enters Saturday on a five-game skid. The Bearcats are coming off a 54-51 loss at UMas Lowell on Wednesday. Hanna Crymble is headlining the offense with 16.3 points and 5.8 points per game. As a team, the Catamounts are totaling 52.8 points per game but allowing opponents to score an average of 61.9 points per game.

LAST TIME AGAINST VERMONT
UAlbany and Vermont split last year’s regular season series, 1-1. The two squads met a third time in the  America East Tournament where UAlbany prevailed 60-42 in the quarterfinal match up.
A WIN WOULD
A win would mark the first win streak for the Great Danes this season. With a win, UAlbany would remain underfeated in conference play and improve to 2-0.
TWENTY-FUN!
Kyara Frames has eclipsed the 20-point mark three times this season. The guard first entered the 20-point club after posting a career-high 25 points against Canisius on Nov. 28. Frames followed her career performance with 23 points at Lafayette (Dec. 1) before posting 23 points the next week against Marist on Dec. 8.
TOP OF THE BOARDS
Heather Forster sits second in the America East in rebounds per game averaging 7.3. The senior earned a career-high 16 boards against Lafayette on December 1, and had recorded five games with double-digit rebounds. 
BENCH PRES-SURE
The Great Danes’ bench played a vital role in the squads first conference win of the season. With a season-high 23 points coming off the bench, UAlbany erased a 16-point deficit on its way to a 61-56 victory against Binghamton on January 2.
