Great Danes Welcome Binghamton in America East Opener

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Great Danes welcome in-state foe Binghamton to the SEFCU Arena on Wednesday, January 2 in the squad’s America East opener.
The contest marks the first of a home-and-home series against the Bearcats as the teams will meet again in Binghamton, N.Y. on February 2.
UAlbany and Binghamton will meet for the 38th time in the sport of women’s basketball. The Great Danes currently lead the all-time series, 34-25, and have won the last 14 contests between the two programs.
The Great Danes enter Wednesday with a 3-10 overall record and are coming off a 1-0 week. The squad rounded out 2018 with a 62-58 victory again Columbia in their final non-conference game of the season. Kyara Frames led all player with 16 points, marking her eighth consecutive double-figure game, while Alexi Schecter posted a career-high 14 points in the win.
Frames currently ranks 8th in the America East averaging 13.1 points per game, while pacing the squad with 33 helpers and 18 steals. Heather Forster sits second in the conference with a career-best 7.3 rebounds per game, while chipping in with 6.4 points per contest. Amanda Kantzy and senior Chyanna Canada add to the offense with 8.2 and 8.4 points per game, respectively. As a team, the Great Danes are scoring 51.0 points per contest, while shooting 35.7 percent from the floor and 28.7 percentage from behind the arc.
Binghamton enters Wednesday on a five-game skid. The Bearcats are coming off a 63-39 New Year’s Eve loss at Dartmouth on Monday afternoon. Rebecca Carmody continues to lead the Bearcats in scoring (12.1 ppg.) and ranks third in the America East with 7.0 rebounds per game. She is also ninth in the conference with 2.6 assists per game. Boland, meanwhile, is tied for fifth in the America East with 1.3 blocks per game. As a team, Binghamton is totaling 58.6 points per game but allowing opponents to score an average of 68.8 points per game.
LAST TIME AGAINST BINGAHMTON
UAlbany has won its last 14 contests against Binghamton. UAlbany handed Binghamton a 57-53 loss in the squads last meeting on February 22, 2018. Jessica Fequirer led the Great Danes to victory with a team-best 17 points and Chyanna Canada chipped in with 10 points off the bench.
A WIN WOULD
A win would against the Bearcats would give the Great Danes their first America East win of the season and first back-to-back wins of the 2018-19 season.

Frames has eclipsed the 20-point mark three times this season. The guard first entered the 20-point club after posting a career-high 25 points against Canisius on Nov. 28. Frames followed her career performance with 23 points at Lafayette (Dec. 1) before posting 23 points the next week against Marist on Dec. 8.
TOP OF THE BOARDS
Forster sits second in the America East in rebounds per game averaging 7.3. The senior earned a career-high 16 boards against Lafayette on December 1, and had recorded five games with double-digit rebounds.
