BOSTON – University at Albany redshirt-junior forward Jessica Féquière has been named America East women’s basketball Player of the Week for Week 9, the conference offices announced Monday. It is Féquière’s second such award this season, and the second of her career. She shares the award this week with Maine guard Blanca Millan, who was named Rookie of the Week.
Féquière led the Great Danes through a 2-0 week with wins over UMass-Lowell and Stony Brook at home to open conference play. In two games, Féquière averaged 22.0 points, including a career-high 24 points against the Seawolves. She also averaged 5.5 rebounds, and shot 60.7% from the floor. Additionally, having already pieced together a streak of 22 consecutive free throws this season, Féquière is currently in the middle of a new streak of 12 consecutive free throws, dating back to December 18 at St. Bonaventure.
The Great Danes have now won three Player of the Week awards this season. Senior guard Imani Tate was the first UAlbany player named, back in Week 3, followed by Féquière’s first award in Week 4.
After two consecutive home games, the Great Danes will play their first road conference game on Wednesday when they visit New Hampshire. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
