ALBANY, N.Y. – For the second straight season, UAlbany junior guard David Nichols has been honored on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District I Team, the organization announced on Monday.
This is the second time has earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in as many years eligible. This honor also nominates him for Academic All-America, which will be voted on starting next week.
Nichols is UAlbany’s starting point guard, standing in the top-10 in the America East in points, assists and minutes per game. Earlier this year, Nichols earned his 1,000th career point. Last year, he was the first UAlbany sophomore to earn America East All-Conference First Team honors as UAlbany’s leading scorer.
In the classroom, Nichols stands with a 3.91 GPA, majoring in communications with a business minor. The 2016-17 America East Scholar-Athlete for Men’s Basketball is a five-time member of the UAlbany Dean’s List in as many semesters eligible.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that UAlbany has had a representative on the CoSIDA Academic All-District I team. Nichols is one of five players across the Northeast to earn this distinction.
