UAlbany Men's Basketball Takes Four-Game Win Streak to Memphis on ESPNU
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The UAlbany men’s basketball team will continue its role in the Gotham Classic on Tuesday, December 12th, heading to Tennessee to take on Memphis at 9 p.m. ET (8 p.m. CT) on ESPNU.
The game is available nationally on ESPNU and online on WatchESPN. Richard Cross and Brooke Weisbrod will have the call live from the FedexForum in Memphis. In addition, 104.5 the Team will have the radio call live, with Brian Mariano on the broadcast.

UAlbany won its opening two games in the Gotham Classic against Bryant and Siena. Memphis is currently 1-0 in the Gotham Classic.
UAlbany, from the America East, in on a four-game winning streak, reclaiming the Albany Cup on Saturday with a 74-69 victory over rival Siena to stand at 10-1 overall. American Athletic Conference representative Memphis has won three in a row, all at home capped by a 90-72 victory over Bryant on Saturday, to enter at 6-2 overall.
This is the first-ever meeting between UAlbany and Memphis. This is also UAlbany’s first game in the state of Tennessee and first contest in the central time zone since playing SMU on December 20, 2016.
UAlbany last played an AAC opponent in that SMU matchup in 2016. Memphis’s last contest vs. an America East member was in 2005, an NIT game vs. Northeastern.
TOP SHOOTING TEAM IN THE AMERICA EAST: Through 11 games in the season, UAlbany stands with the second highest scoring offense in the America East, earning 81.8 points per game, including six 80+ point games, with a conference best 49.5% field goal rate.

UAlbany is also the top-ranked mid-major team in the state of New York and second in the America East. UAlbany has stood in the top-10 each of the past three weeks.
BOX OUT!: Through 11 games, UAlbany has outrebounded its opponents in all contests, standing with the best rebounding margin in the America East at +10.4. UAlbany and Auburn are the only teams to outrebound their opponents in all games to begin the year. Second in the league is New Hampshire at +5.3. Greig Stire (7.5) and Travis Charles (5.7) stand in the top-12 in the America East in rebounding.
NICHOLS NAMED TO LOU HENSON AWARD WATCH LIST: UAlbany junior guard David Nichols has been named to the 2017-18 Lou Henson Award Preseason Watch List. The Lou Henson Award is given each year to the top Division I mid-major player.
THE WALKING BUCKET: Nicknamed the “Walking Bucket” by head coach Will Brown after the win over Colgate, Travis Charles has earned double digit points in 10 games this season, averaging 14.7 points per contest and shooting 61.4% from the field. He is also averaging 5.7 boards a contest.
SCOUTING MEMPHIS: Memphis comes into this game with a perfect 6-0 home record under second year head coach Tubby Smith. The team’s top scorer is junior point guard Jeremiah Martin with 17.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per contest. Junior forward Kyvon Davenport is the primary post player, shooting 51.4% from the field with 13.8 points and 6.5 boards a game.
