Stire Joins Men's Basketball Staff
ALBANY, N.Y. – Former University at Albany men’s basketball player Greig Stire has joined head coach Will Brown’s staff as video coordinator for the remainder of the 2018-19 season. Stire moves into the role vacated by current Director of Basketball Operations Ty Conyers, who served as video coordinator during the 2017-18 season.
“I am excited to have Greig join our staff as the video coordinator,” said Coach Brown. “Greig is a former captain and was an outstanding representative of our program for four years. He played the game the right way, with tremendous energy, enthusiasm, and toughness. He expressed an interest in becoming a coach so I am excited to be in a position to offer him this opportunity. I am confident that he will do an outstanding job moving forward. Our staff dynamic is unique and special as our 3 assistants, Director of Basketball Operations, and Video Coordinator all have a UAlbany degree.”
Stire played four years for UAlbany, averaging 6.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in 132 appearances for the Great Danes. He was a two-time America East Player of the Week, and holds the program record for single season total rebounds with 266 and rebounding average with 8.3, and a share of the single-game program record for rebounds with 15. Stire’s 132 games played rank second in program history, one game behind Blake Metcalf, and his 99 career starts rank in a tie for third.
In the fall, Stire used the last of his eligibility playing tight end for the UAlbany football team, appearing in seven games.
The men’s next game is Saturday, January 12 against Maine.
