UAlbany Volleyball Trio Repeats as America East Weekly Award Recipients

ALBANY, N.Y. – For the second straight session, three UAlbany volleyball players have earned America East weekly honors, all repeating from last week.

Nicole Otero repeats as the America East Defensive Specialist of the Week, Kelly Cameron is again the America East Setter of the Week while Tatiana Tiangco maintains America East Rookie of the Week.

All three now have three weekly awards this season, with Otero and Cameron notching three weeks in a row and Tiangco earns her third award in four weeks.  As a team, UAlbany has 10 America East weekly honors this season.

The trio helped UAlbany take sole possession of first place in the America East this past weekend with road wins at Binghamton and UMBC, combining to win 6-1 in sets in the two matches.

Otero averaged 6.1 digs per set in the two matches, totaling 43 on the weekend, adding six assists.  The junior libero had 25 digs in the four-set victory at UMBC.

Cameron had over 40 assists in each match over the weekend, tallying 83 assists, 18 digs, six blocks and six kills.  The sophomore helped UAlbany hit .296 vs. Binghamton and had a double double vs. UMBC.

Tiangco led UAlbany in kills in each victory with 13.  The freshman outside hitter hit .296 on the weekend with 26 kills and five digs, averaging 4.3 kills per set for the Great Danes.

UAlbany has a road match at UMass Lowell on Friday, October 27th at 7 p.m.
