
Volleyball Garners Two AE Player of the Week Honors

ALBANY, N.Y. — For the second straight week, two members of the UAlbany volleyball team earned recognition for their performances last weekend.
Junior Chloe Evering was tabbed the America East Offensive Player of the Week while freshman Andersen Vaughan earned her first career Rookie of the Week honor, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Evering paced the team with 32 kills and hit for .280 in a 2-0 week for UAlbany volleyball. Evering averaged 4.00 kills per set while adding five digs and two blocks across the weekend. On Friday night, the junior blasted a career-high 20 kills and hit for .317 to lead the squad to a 3-1 victory against Binghamton. The outside hitter stayed hot with 12 kills in the weekend finale against UMBC on Sunday afternoon.
Vaughan, who took over the starting role as setter, averaged 9.87 assists per set while earning her first double-double with a career-high 41 assists and 12 digs in a 3-1 win against Binghamton. The freshman followed her impressive performance with 38 assists and 12 digs against UMBC for her second consecutive double-double. The 12 digs matched a personal-best for Vaughan who added eight kills and five blocks on the weekend.
UAlbany takes its 12-game regular season conference win streak into weekend match ups at Stony Brook (10/5) and Hartford (10/7).
