ALBANY, N.Y. – After leading the UAlbany volleyball team to a pair of road victories, two Great Danes have been selected for America East weekly honors.

Nicole Otero was chosen as the America East Defensive Specialist of the Week while Danielle Tedesco was honored as the America East Rookie of the Week.

Otero earns her fourth America East weekly honor in a row and stands with 14 in her collegiate career.  Tedesco notches her first career conference weekly honor.

This is the fourth consecutive week that UAlbany has had multiple America East weekly awards.  As a team, UAlbany has 12 America East weekly honors in 2017.

Otero and Tedesco helped UAlbany secure a pair of three-set road victories over UMass Lowell and New Hampshire this weekend, improving UAlbany’s first-place lead in the America East to two-and-a-half matches.

Otero stood as UAlbany’s libero in the two matches, averaging 4.5 digs per set to total 27 on the weekend.  The junior assisted UAlbany to allow a .053 hitting percentage in the matches.

Tedesco hit .536 combined in the two matches, leading UAlbany with seven blocks at UMass Lowell and 10 kills at UNH.  The freshman middle blocker totaled 17 kills, with just two attack errors, and 11 blocks.

UAlbany prepares for Senior Day on Friday, November 3rd at 7 p.m. vs. UMBC in the University Gym.
