Baseball Visits Towson For Three

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany baseball team will hit the road again this weekend for its second series of the season. The Great Danes will play three games in three days at Towson.

UAlbany opened the season playing three games against James Madison. The Great Danes scored first in all three games, but went 1-2 against the Dukes in the series. UAlbany opened the season with an 8-5 victory over James Madison in extra innings, but fell in the next two games 4-3, and 6-2.

Matt Codispoti led the team in batting through the first three games, hitting 4-11 with a double and an RBI. Connor Powers batted 4-13 with two doubles, a home run, and three RBIs. Dominic Savino made his first career start in the season opener, lasting 4.0 innings and recording one strikeout and two walks while allowing three runs. Hunter Torres made two relief appearances, striking out three in 2.2 shutout innings and earning one save.

Towson has opened its season 1-5 and has lost its last four games. Most recently, the Tigers were swept by Richmond over three games. The Tigers’ lone win this season was an 11-6 affair in the second of three games at New Mexico State to start their season.

Following the series at Towson, UAlbany will hop on a plane and travel to the West Coast to play a four-game series at Seattle University. The Danes’ home opener is scheduled for March 27 against Massachusetts.
