Baseball Announces 2018 Schedule
ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany baseball team has announced its slate of games for the upcoming 2018 season. The schedule includes 53 regular season games, including eight America East series and 18 home games.
“The 2018 schedule will challenge our team early,” said head coach Jon Mueller. “Throughout the season we will continue to be tested with numerous regional participants from last year’s NCAA tournament. As always, the goal is to be playing at our best late in May when the stakes are at their highest.”
The season starts with a three-day, three-game series at James Madison beginning on February 23. Next, the team will visit Towson for three games over three days starting March 2. The furthest trip of the regular season comes just two weeks in, with three-day, four-game series at Seattle starting on March 9.
Returning to the east coast, the Great Danes will play one game at Central Connecticut State on March 13, before playing consecutive double-headers at Hofstra on March 17 and 18. A March 20 double-header at Saint Peter’s leads into the first America East series of the season, a three game set at UMass Lowell starting March 24.
After a single game at Iona on March 28, the Great Danes will head north for a three game set against Maine starting on March 31. Maine, who eliminated UAlbany from the America East Tournament last season en route to a title game berth, will host this year’s America East Tournament in May.
The Great Danes will play back-to-back road games at Marist on April 3 and at LIU Brooklyn on April 4 before finally opening their home schedule with a three-game series against Hartford starting on April 7. The homecoming will be short-lived, as UAlbany will be back on the road for a single game at St. John’s on April 10.
The team will immediately return home to host Manhattan on April 11 to start a five-game home stand, which includes three games against Stony Brook starting on April 14, and a single game against Army on April 17.
UAlbany will visit Binghamton on the road for three starting April 21 before hosting Central Connectiuct State on April 24, Iona on April 25, and Rhode Island for a double-header on April 28.
A single road game at Manhattan on May 2 leads into the longest home stand of the season, which will see UAlbany host six consecutive games to close out their regular season home schedule. The stretch starts with a three-game series against UMass Lowell starting May 5 and ends with a three game series against Maine starting May 12.
The Great Danes will play their final four games on the road, starting at Sacred Heart on May 15, and concluding with a final America East series at UMBC starting on May 18. The America East Tournament will run from May 23-26 at Maine’s Mahaney Diamond.
