Playing in the penultimate home game of the 2017 regular season, the University at Albany men’s soccer team defeated Hartford 1-0 in a rematch of the 2016 America East championship game.
The Great Danes entered Friday’s game having dropped their last two, to New Hampshire and to UMBC. Daniel Krutzen scored the game’s only goal on a free kick in the 34th minute. With the ball about 24 yards out on the right side, Krutzen squared up and ripped a shot near post and out of the reach of the Hartford goalkeeper.
