Men's Soccer Visits St. Bonaventure
ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany men’s soccer team, having successfully navigated its three-game home stand, will hit the road for one game on Sunday against St. Bonaventure.
The Great Danes (3-1-0) have played three of their first four games at home, after opening the season on the road. Entering the home stand with a record of 0-1 after a late-game loss at Marist, UAlbany rolled off three consecutive wins over Rhode Island, George Mason, and Boston University. Two of the three games were shutouts, and UAlbany averaged three goals per game during the stretch.
The defense that allowed 10 goals in the final 14 games of the 2016 season has not missed a beat, despite losing two starters of four from last year. Now, the team is looking towards two freshmen, Riccardo Iafrate and Adam Malekos to fill the holes left after graduation. The Danes allowed just one goal in their last three games.
Against Boston University, the Great Danes were on their heels for much of the first
St. Bonaventure, who played its first four games on the road this season, finally hosted a home game on Friday against Canisius. The Bonnies fell by a score of 2-0.
After playing the Bonnies, UAlbany will return home for its fourth home game in its first six to play American on Friday, September 15.
