Men's Soccer Hosts Boston University
ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany men’s soccer team will host its third consecutive home game on Tuesday against former conference rival Boston University.
UAlbany (2-1-0) has won its first two home games to open the season, first downing Rhode Island 4-0, and most recently defeating George Mason 3-1. The Great Danes have now won their last six home games dating back to the 2016 regular season finale against Binghamton.
Against George Mason, sophomore Brynjar Steinþórsson, after a freshman campaign in which he was named to the America East All-Rookie team, scored his first career goal as a Great Dane with a header midway through the second half to break a scoreless tie with the Patriots. Junior Daniel Krutzen set up Steinþórsson off his corner kick, marking the fifth goal Krutzen has contributed to this season, and third consecutive game in which Krutzen has recorded a point.
Boston University last played at UMass Lowell, who joined the America East after Boston University departed for the Patriot League. The Riverhawks, who ranked 14th in the United Soccer Coaches National poll at the time, took the game 2-0, handing Boston University its third consecutive loss to open the season.
On Sunday, the Terriers played an exhibition game against the Haiti National Olympic Team. The game, which was played in Boston, ended in a 2-2 tie.
After playing three of their first four games of the season at home, the Great Danes will play one game on the road before returning to Tom & Mary Casey Stadium to host American on Friday, September 15.
