UAlbany Sports Information   09-18-2017

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its Week 2 regional rankings Monday. The University at Albany men’s and women’s cross country teams each held spots in the Northeast poll, despite not competing for the last two weekends.

The men retained their 13th rank from last week. Syracuse remained atop the poll, followed by Columbia and Iona, who swapped positions from Week 1. Providence and Cornell rounded out the men’s top five. There were no other changes in the poll until the 14th and 15th rankings, which saw Marist and UMass Lowell jump in after not ranking within the top 15 last week. Stony Brook held steady at seventh as the only other America East team in the men’s poll.

The women fell one spot to 15th this week. Providence again ranked first, followed by Yale, Syracuse, Columbia, and Cornell, each of whom improved one spot this week by virtue of Harvard falling four spots from their second place position last week. New Hampshire remained ranked eighth week-to-week, and Vermont fell one spot to 14th.

After three weeks of training, the Great Danes will finally compete again when they visit Boston’s Franklin Park on Friday, September 22 for the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown hosted by Boston College.
