NEW ORLEANS – The University at Albany cross country program saw both its men and women earn team All-Academic honors, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Thursday. The men compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.27 and the women earned a GPA of 3.31.
To earn team All-Academic honors, a team must accumulate a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher through the latest competition season. A total of 427 teams earned All-Academic accolades for the 2018 cross country season.
The Colorado women and the BYU men were named Division I Scholar Teams of the Year, by virtue of being the highest finishing teams for each gender at NCAA XC Championships with a GPA exceeding 3.00. The highest team GPA of the season went to the Radford University women (3.87) and the Southern Illinois University men (3.67).
The UAlbany women earned their first-ever America East XC team title in October behind the Great Danes’ first-ever male or female individual XC champion in Hannah Reinhardt. The men placed fifth overall.
