Short Story:Hannah Reinhardt leads UAlbany women’s XC to its first-ever America East title.
How it happened
Hannah Reinhardt became UAlbany’s first-ever individual America East XC champion, men’s or women’s, finishing in 16:54.75, 23 seconds clear of second place
Reinhardt improved on her time from the Pre-Conference meet on this course by eight seconds, lowering her own school record for 5K measured by average mile time, and is the first UAlbany woman under 17 minutes for a full 5K
Cara Sherman placed seventh overall in 17:36.60, earning First Team All-Conference honors
Sherman also received the women’s Elite 18 Award for holding the highest GPA among the top finishers
Holly Machabee placed 10th in 17:43.44, earning Second Team All-Conference honors
Kaylah Quarshie placed 11th in 17:46.89, also earning Second Team All-Conference honors
Kelly Iocca placed 17th in 18:00.03
The women’s average finishing time was 17:36.35, which breaks the 2018 team’s own program record by 14 seconds
The women’s scoring gap was 66 seconds
Women’s XC was the last team at UAlbany without a conference title
UAlbany has now won 100 America East championships, and 108 overall conference championships
The women’s team snapped New Hampshire’s streak of five consecutive cross country titles
