BOSTON – For the second consecutive week, University at Albany women’s cross country runner Hannah Reinhardt has been named America East Women’s Performer of the Week. She was named alongside Men’s Performer Aaron Willingham.
Reinhardt, a junior from Clarence, N.Y., claimed the individual title at the America East Pre-Conference Meet hosted by UMass Lowell at Mine Hills Park in Nashua, N.H., leading the women to the overall team title.
Reinhardt’s finishing time of 17:02.0 is a program record for a full 5K by average mile pace, surpassing Brittney Lane’s performance of 16:44.35 from the 2012 America East XC Championships, set on a course that was 4,910m. Lane’s average mile pace that day was 5:29.19, and Reinhardt’s pace Saturday was 5:28.7.
The women’s team on Saturday also set a program record for cumulative finishing time on a full 5K course. The top five finished in an average of 17:50.6, becoming the first women’s quintet to average under 18 minutes. Like Reinhardt, UAlbany’s next four finishers ran personal-bests.
The fastest overall average finishing time for the women’s team remains the 17:47.53 mark set on 2012’s America East XC Championship course, short of a full 5K.
UAlbany will not race again until September 29 at Lehigh’s Paul Short Run, where the women will bump up to a 6K course for the first time this season.
