2019 Women's Lacrosse Schedule
ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women’s lacrosse team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2019 season. The regular-season slate includes eight home games, all played at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium, four Power-5 conference opponents, and five opponents ranked in the preseason top-25. Three of the five ranked in the preseason poll fall in the top-10, including preseason #1 Boston College.
“I am looking forward to the 2019 season and am excited about our schedule,” said head coach Katie Rowan. “We looked to build a competitive non-conference slate to help us prepare for a challenging America East schedule. Having five 2018 NCAA Tournament teams as well as other tough opponents in the northeast on our schedule will give our team opportunities to compete at a high level against top programs in the country. We can’t wait to play in front of our Great Dane fans and supporters this spring.”
The 2019 slate begins with four-straight home games. The Great Danes will open the season on February 16 against Yale. Next, the Danes will host Bucknell on February 23, followed by Bryant on February 26. Stanford, preseason #17, will visit the Capital Region on March 3 to conclude the four-game home stand.
The Danes’ first road game will feature a trip to preseason #9 Penn State on March 9, followed by a game at UConn on March 13. UAlbany returns home on March 16 to host Siena. The crosstown rivalry game precedes a stretch of four-straight road games.
UAlbany will face off against preseason #1 Boston College on March 19. Last season, the Eagles drew the four-seed in the NCAA Tournament, knocked off five-seed Stony Brook, upset top overall seed Maryland and advanced to the national title game before falling to three-seed James Madison.
The America East slate begins on March 23 with a trip to UMass Lowell. On March 27, the Great Danes will visit the Carrier Dome to play preseason #12 Syracuse. The long road trip wraps up on March 30 with a trip to Binghamton.
UAlbany hosts Vermont on April 3 and New Hampshire on April 6 before visiting preseason #5 Stony Brook on April 12. The Seawolves, six-time defending America East champions, held the top ranking in the country through the end of the 2018 regular season, and have been UAlbany’s opponent in each of the last seven America East championship games.
The Danes will visit Hartford on April 20, the final road game of the regular season, before hosting UMBC on April 27 to close the regular season slate. The America East Tournament will be played on May 2 and May 4 and will be hosted by the top overall seed in the conference.
Last season, UAlbany finished 9-9 overall, including 6-1 in the America East, en route to an eighth-straight appearance in the America East title game.
