ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women’s lacrosse team as well as two student-athletes, Emma Powlin and Kaylee Rickert, have been honored by the IWLCA and Zag Sports for academic excellence.

The Great Danes, with a team grade-point average of 3.2 for the 2017-18 school year, were named one of the IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads.

UAlbany was one of 339 programs across Divisions I, III and III as well as NAIA to be honored with a team award. To qualify, teams had to post a GPA of 3.0 or higher for this past academic year.

Additionally, Rickert and Powlin were two of 462 Division I student-athletes to earn a place on the IWLCA Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll.

Rickert, a junior majoring in criminal justice, and Powlin, who graduated this past spring with a bachelor’s degree in business, were honored for posting cumulative GPAs of 3.50 or greater.

Rickert and Powlin, along with Jordyn Marr and Erin Leghart, also had been named to the America East All-Academic Team in May.
