Sarah Martin Honored as IWLCA, IL First Team All-American
ALBANY, N.Y. – Great Dane standout Sarah Martin has been selected as the first-ever Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) First Team All-American and Inside Lacrosse Media First Team All-American, the organizations announced Wednesday.
Martin becomes the sixth-ever IWLCA All-American in UAlbany's Division I history and the first to be on the first team. She is just one of four midfielders across Division I to be placed on the first team.
In addition, Martin earns a place on the inaugural Inside Lacrosse/ILWomen Media All-America Team, being one of three midfielders in the country on the first team.
Previously, Martin was placed on the IWLCA All-Northeast Region First Team, the second straight year she was an all-region player.
Through the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, Martin is second in all of Division I in points per game at 6.06, ninth with 3.5 goals per game, 10th in assist per game at 2.56 and 14th in draw controls per game at 5.5.
The senior midfielder earned the highest single season points tally in UAlbany history in 2017 with 109 off 63 goals and 46 assists, adding 99 draw controls, 35 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers. She earned at least two points in every UAlbany game this season and had at least five points in 13 games.
UAlbany last IWLCA All-American was Maureen Keggins in 2015.
