Sarah Martin Drafted into the United Women's Lacrosse League

ALBANY, N.Y. – Former UAlbany midfielder Sarah Martin has been drafted by the Long Island Sound into the United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX), becoming the first Great Dane to play in the professional ranks.

The UWLX was founded in 2016 and is the first professional women's lacrosse league.  The league has four teams, including the Long Island Sound, which won the inaugural championship last season.

Martin, a 2017 Tewaaraton Trophy nominee and the America East Midfielder of the Year, finished with a UAlbany record 109 points this year off 63 goals and 46 assists, adding 35 ground balls, 99 draw controls and 17 caused turnovers.  She helped UAlbany to a 12-6 record and an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament.

Martin finished her career with 219 points off 137 goals and 82 assists.

Long Island begins its season on May 27th at Attleboro High School against the Baltimore Ride.
