LANCASTER, Pa. – Two former University at Albany field hockey players have been named to the U.S. Women’s National Development Squad, which was announced this past week by USA Field Hockey.
Kelsey Briddell, a senior who wrapped up her Great Danes career this past fall, and Kelly Bonner-Marks, who graduated in 2015, were chosen for the squad following the three-day U.S. Women’s National Team Trial in Lancaster, Pa.
Briddell and Bonner-Marks were two of 21 athletes chosen from a pool of 34 who attended to the camp. As members of the Development Squad, they will participate in four training camps and a tour of Chile in May. They are eligible to be called up to the Senior Team starting in September.
Briddell, a forward/midfielder from Gansevoort, N.Y. (Saratoga High), was named to the 2017 America East All-Tournament team and finished the regular season with five goals and seven assists. She started all 61 games from her sophomore through her senior seasons. For her career, she totaled 15 goals and 20 assists.
Bonner-Marks, a forward from Elverson, Pa. (Owen J. Roberts), completed her UAlbany career with 14 goals and four assists after transferring from Old Dominion. She was a co-vice captain as a senior, helping the Great Danes reach the national semifinals.
