LOUISVILLE, Ky. — UAlbany field hockey standout senior Frederike Helmke competed in the 2018 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Game this past Friday in Louisville, Ky.

The Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Game features the top senior players in the nation and is traditionally played on the weekend of the NCAA Division I Final Four.

“A great way to cap an amazing four-year run at the Senior All Star Game at the Final Four,” said head coach Phil Sykes. “Freddy has been such a great player and person for our team.  She has represented our University with such class over her time here. We will miss her greatly.”

Helmke was joined by fellow America East student-athletes Rachel Bossi of New Hampshire and Kriekie van Wyk of Pacific.

This season, Helmke was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season and becomes just the third player in program history to earn First Team All-Conference honors on three occasions. She finished the year with a career-high 23 points and nine goals, while adding five helpers along the way.

She has played in 74 career games and finished her career with 21 goals and 16 helpers for 58 points. The two-year captain has posted eight game-winners in a Great Dane uniform.

Majoring in Human Biology, Helmke is a three-time NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad selection. Hemlock is boasting a 3.390 GPA.
