Great Danes to Face Maryland in NCAA First Round
ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany field hockey team (16-4) earned its sixth NCAA Tournament bid Sunday night. The Great Danes will take on second-seeded Maryland (19-2) in the First Round on Friday, November 9 (12 p.m.) in College Park, Md.
Defending national champions UConn (18-3) will challenge Rutgers (13-5) in Saturday’s other first-round game set to begin at 2:30 p.m. The winners of Friday’s First Round games will play Sunday afternoon in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
The winner of the quarterfinals will advance to the NCAA Final Four, which will be played in Louisville, Ky.The University of Louisville will host the semifinals and final on Friday, Nov. 16, and Sunday, Nov. 18, at Trager Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky.

No 21 UAlbany defeated No.18 Maine, 2-0, in the America East Tournament on Sunday afternoon, earning its third automatic bid to the NCAA tournament in the last five years. The Great Danes are 3-5 all-time in the tournament and made the program’s first trip to the Final Four in 2014.
