Albany, N.Y. —The No. 21 UAlbany field hockey team welcomes Colgate to Alumni Turf Saturday, September 1 for its 2018 home opener. The tilt is slated to begin at 1 p.m. and admission is free.

UAlbany opened the season at No. 11 Syracuse on Saturday, August 26. Despite outshooting the Orange 10-7 and holding a strong advantage in penalty corners, 13-3, the Great Danes were defeated 1-0. The 0-0 tie lasted until the 38th minute when Roos Weers slid the Orange into the lead. Syracuse, who had not recorded a shot prior to the goal, earned a penalty corner following a UAlbany foul. Tess Queen inserted the penalty corner to Weers who was waiting at the top of the semicircle to Weers who notched the game-winner.

The Great Danes have a tough fall campaign ahead of them as they are set to face five teams ranked in the Top-25 this season. In addition to battling the Orange, UAlbany also squares-off against Boston College (No. 13) on Sept. 9; Delaware (No. 9) at home Sept. 23; Louisville (No. 8) at home Oct. 21; and America East member Maine (No. 25) at home Oct. 19.
