LANCESTER, Pa. – Five UAlbany players, current and former, have been selected to play in the Young Women’s USA Field Hockey High Performance Tournament.
Kelsey Briddell, Dana Bozek, Kelly Bonner-Marks, Melissa Nealon and Liz Ryan will take part in the tournament from June 25-29 in Pennsylvania. The field is open to current and former collegiate players; Briddell, Nealon and Ryan are all locals to the Capital District.
This tournament is used to help selections for the U.S. National Team. The tournament will take place at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the home of USA Field Hockey.
Bozek, Nealon and Ryan are all current Great Danes, set to play for 2018. Bozek was NFCHA All-Northeast Region last year with eight goals and seven assists in 19 starts. Nealon was also All-Northeast Region, starting all 19 games in goal with a 75.9% save rate and a 1.40 goals allowed average. Ryan was one of the team’s top rookies, playing in all 19 games with three points.
Bonner-Marks graduated from UAlbany in 2015, earning 14 goals off 51 starts in three seasons for the Great Danes, while Briddell just graduated in 2018, starting 67 games with 15 goals and 20 assists.
All players had to complete a tryout for the team.
