ALBANY, N.Y. – UAlbany field hockey player Taylor Schwoyerhas been named an America East Presidential Scholar-Athlete for graduating with a cumulative GPA of over 3.75.
A four-year player with UAlbany, Schowyer graduated in December with a 3.97 GPA in human biology. Of the five America East Presidential Scholar-Athletes in Fall 2016, she has the highest GPA.
Schwoyer was the 2014 and 2015 America East Elite 18 Winner for having the highest GPA among conference championship participants and is a three-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction. She played in 51 games in her collegiate career, helping a defense allow 1.11 goals per game in four years.
In addition to registering a 3.75 GPA for their college career, honored student-athletes must have received their undergraduate degree in the academic year they are honored and have attended their institution for a minimum of two years.
The other four America East Presidential Scholar-Athletes of Fall 2016 were UNH’s Chris Wingate and UMBC’s Carly Deeter, Patrick Duboyce and Bill Heavner.
