Paula Heuser Honored as NFHCA Division I Northeast Region Player of the Year
ALBANY, N.Y. – The honors keep accumulating for UAlbany great Paula Heuser, who today was named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association DI Northeast Region Player of the Year for the third year in a row.
Heuser was selected as the Northeast Region Player of the Year in 2014 and 2015 as well. On Tuesday, she earned First Team All-Northeast Region honors for the fourth year running.
The senior midfielder led UAlbany to a third straight America East regular season title with a 7-1 record in the East Division at 14-6 record overall. She led UAlbany in goals with 17, assists with 13 and game-winning goals with four. She was named the 2016 America East Midfielder of the Year for her season.
Heuser finishes her UAlbany career as the NCAA active leader in points with 240 and goals with 97, being second in assists with 46.
Among the five DI regional players of the year, Heuser in the only three-time winner and one of two to pick up this honor multiple times.
