Two UAlbany Lacrosse Alumni Return to MLL in Supplemental Draft

UAlbany Sports Information   01-18-2018

BOSTON – Two former UAlbany men’s lacrosse players will return to Major League Lacrosse (MLL) after being selected in the 2018 MLL Supplemental Draft on Tuesday.

Adam Osika and Matt Garziano were each chosen in the MLL Supplemental Draft.  Osika was taken third overall in the first round by the Charlotte Hounds while Garziano was selected 101st overall and in the 12th round by the Atlanta Blaze.

The MLL Supplemental Draft is held to allow teams to complete their 40-man rosters for the upcoming season.  After each year, all teams protect 23 players from the previous season and fill out the rest of the team through players in the Supplemental Draft.

Osika played for the Blaze last year in his first season in the MLL.  Garziano has formerly played for the Chesapeake Bayhawks and the Florida Launch, being in the MLL since 2015.

Current UAlbany alumni on MLL active rosters include John Maloney and Lyle Thompson on the Chesapeake Bayhawks, Blaze Riorden and Ty Thompson on the Dallas Rattlers and Matt Bertrams on the Boston Cannons.
