ALBANY, N.Y. — Seven University at Albany men’s lacrosse alumni as well as junior Tehoka Nanticoke are competing in the World Lacrosse Men’s Indoor Championships in British Columbia, Canada.
Former Great Danes Adam Osika, Joe Resetarits and Blaze Riorden are competing for the United States, while alumni Lyle and Miles Thompson along with Nanticoke are playing for the Iroquois Nationals.
The teams face each other Thursday, Sept. 26, in a semifinal game. Both had qualified for the eight-team championship bracket to remain in the hunt for Crockerton Cup, which will be awarded Saturday, Sept. 28.
The United States finished 2-2 in pool play to advance to the quarterfinal round, in which it defeated the Czech Republic, 17-3. Resetarits, who was fourth in the tournament with 28 points during pool play, posted a goal and seven assists to help the United States defeat England, 22-3, to conclude pool play, and Riorden had a hat trick against the Czech Republic.
The Iroquois Nationals were 3-1 in pool play, including an 11-10 victory over the United States. Nanticoke posted a hat trick in the game.
The Iroquois Nationals have won the silver medal each of the past four years, while the U.S. team has taken bronze four times.
