Connor Fields, AJ Kluck selected in NLL Draft
PHILADELPHIA – University at Albany men’s lacrosse alum Connor Fields, one of the most decorated athletes in program history, was selected in the first round of Tuesday night’s National Lacrosse League (NLL) First-Year Player Draft. He was one of two Great Danes chosen. AJ Kluck also was taken in the fourth round.
Fields was picked 10th overall by the San Diego Seals, an expansion franchise, during the draft held at Xfinity Live! In Philadelphia.
A three-time Tewaaraton Trophy nominee, Fields graduated this past spring as the second all-time leading scorer in Division I history with 364 points (199 goals). He won consecutive America East Offensive Player of the Year awards and was a USILA and Inside Lacrosse All-American.
Kluck, picked 44th overall by the Toronto Rock, was one of UAlbany’s primary long-stick midfielders in 2018 after having been a close defender the previous three seasons. He finished his career with 84 ground balls and 43 caused turnovers.
Both Kluck and Fields helped lead the Great Danes to their first Final Four appearance this past Spring.
At least one former UAlbany player has been drafted by an NLL franchise every year since 2012.
The Seals play their first game at 10 p.m. Eastern Time on Dec. 8.
