SAVANNAH, Ga. – Recognized for his achievements on and off the field, UAlbany’s Kyle McClancy has been chosen as the 2017-18 America East Man of the Year.

His exceptional performance on the lacrosse field, along with his commitment to academic excellence and community service are strong reflections of those values. Kyle is a worthy recipient of this prestigious award and we are all very proud of him. He is an outstanding ambassador for the University at Albany and the America East Conference."
McClancy, a member of the UAlbany men’s lacrosse team, was chosen as one of three finalists for Man of the Year last week. Finishing the season with 29 goals, 19 assists and 36 ground balls in 19 starts in the first midfield, he helped UAlbany earn its first trip to Championship Weekend and its ninth America East Tournament. This past weekend, he made his professional debut with the Atlanta Blaze in Major League Lacrosse.
In the classroom, McClancy was honored as an America East Presidential Scholar-Athlete, having graduated with a 3.93 GPA in business management and finance. He was chosen as a USILA Scholar All-American and the America East Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s lacrosse in 2017 and is a three-time member of the America East All-Academic Team.
He is also an active member of the community, taking part in charity work with and away from the team. With UAlbany, he took part in helping out with JP’s Wide World of Sports, encourage Kids Foundation and the Capital Region Miracle League Charity Challenge, plus helped with youth lacrosse teams and schools.
McClancy was honored at the annual America East annual awards dinner on Tuesday, June 5th in Savannah, Georgia. He was a finalist along with Maine’s Sam Lenson and Stony Brook’s Tyler Anderson.
